Zoë Rogers

Permanent Board Member

Zoë Rogers, a beloved CommonBondz Board Member, passed away on October 29, 2020 at the age of 19.

Zoë was a student at the University of California Berkeley, playing for the Women's Varsity Field Hockey Team and serving on the Black Student Athlete Committee as the Community Service Coordinator.

Zoë graduated from Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School in 2019 having earned the John F. Meehan Award for showing leadership and sportsmanship on the field. During her time at Gwynedd Mercy Academy, Zoë was on the Varsity Field Hockey team for four years, was named captain her junior and selected by her teammates as captain her senior year, and was the co-president of the Diversity Club for her last two years.

Growing up with her mother and grandparents as role models, she learned the importance of hard work. Attending a predominantly white school and playing a sport with very little diversity, Zoë had to continually face many forms of racism in the environments she has been in. Even though she endured these challenges on a daily basis, her family taught her that they make her who she is and prepared her for her next journey: to educate people and make every sport more inclusive and accessible to everyone.
